Informativa sulla Privacy

Privacy Policy

We collect as little as we can. This page explains what we do collect, why, who else is involved, how long we keep it, and the rights you have.

Who we are

Alba Chiara — Ristorante & Bottega is a trading name of Sirmani Foods Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 12245240), registered office Unit 4, 99 London Road, Stanway, Colchester, Essex CO3 0NY. Our restaurant is at 91–93 Undercliff Road West, Felixstowe, Suffolk IP11 2AF.

We are the “controller” of the personal information described on this page. To contact us about it, email albachiarafelixstowe@gmail.com, call 01394 547180, or write to us at the restaurant.

The short version

  • This website sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics, advertising or tracking.
  • It loads nothing from other companies until you choose to. The only example is the Google Map, which stays switched off until you ask for it. Our fonts are served from our own website.
  • Our contact form doesn’t send anything to us. It opens your own email app with your message ready, and nothing leaves your device until you press send there.
  • Table bookings are handled by Dojo and online orders by Square; what you give them is also covered by their own privacy notices.
  • We never sell your information or use it for advertising.

What we collect, why, and for how long

When you email, phone or message us

  • What: your name, contact details and whatever you tell us — including anything sent through our contact form, which arrives as an ordinary email.
  • Why: to reply and deal with your enquiry, booking or event.
  • Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering people who contact us, or taking steps you ask for before an agreement (such as planning a private event).
  • How long: as long as we need it for your enquiry and any follow-up — normally no more than two years after we last heard from you.

When you book a table

  • What: your name, contact details, date, time, party size and any notes you add. Online bookings are taken through Dojo. If you book by phone, we note the details needed to hold your table.
  • Why: to hold your table and look after you on the day.
  • Legal basis: to carry out our agreement with you (your booking).
  • How long: for as long as needed to manage your booking and any follow-up.

Allergies and dietary needs

  • What: any allergy, intolerance or dietary requirement you tell us about.
  • Why: only to prepare food that is safe for you.
  • Legal basis: this can be health information, so we use it only with your explicit consent — which you give by telling us — and only for this purpose.
  • How long: only as long as needed for your visit or booking.

When you order online

  • What: your name, contact details and order. Orders and payments are processed by Square, and we never see or store your full card details.
  • Why: to prepare and hand over your order.
  • Legal basis: to carry out our contract with you; keeping sales records is also a legal obligation.
  • How long: order and payment records for six years, because tax law requires businesses to keep financial records.

Our events list

  • What: your name and email address — only if you ask to join, for example by ticking the box on our contact form or emailing us.
  • Why: to send occasional emails about wine dinners and special evenings.
  • Legal basis: your consent. Withdraw it at any time by replying “unsubscribe” or emailing us, and we will remove you promptly.
  • How long: until you unsubscribe.

If you apply for a job

  • What: your CV and anything you send with it.
  • Why: to consider your application.
  • Legal basis: taking steps at your request before an employment contract.
  • How long: up to six months after the position is filled, unless you ask us to keep it longer or it becomes part of your employment record.

When you visit this website

  • What: like every website, our hosting provider’s servers automatically record technical details of each request — your IP address, the page requested, the time and your browser type — in standard server logs.
  • Why: to keep the website running securely and to investigate faults or misuse. We don’t use these logs to identify or profile visitors.
  • Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure website.
  • How long: for the limited period our host keeps them.

Other companies involved

We use a small number of providers. Where they handle personal information for us they do so on our instructions; where they act for themselves, their own privacy notice applies.

  • Hostinger — hosts this website. Hostinger’s privacy policy
  • Google — provides our email (Gmail), and Google Maps if you choose to show a map. Google’s privacy policy
  • Dojo — our table-booking system. Dojo’s privacy policy
  • Square — our online ordering and payments. Square’s privacy notice for customers
  • Instagram, Facebook, TripAdvisor and Google reviews — only if you follow our links to them; what you do there is covered by their own policies.

We don’t sell, rent or trade personal information, and we don’t share it with anyone for their own marketing.

Information stored outside the UK

Some providers, such as Google and Square, may store or process information outside the UK. When they do, they rely on safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as UK adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.

Cookies

This website sets no cookies of its own. Google Maps sets cookies only if you choose to show a map. The details, and how to change your choice, are in our cookie policy.

Keeping your information safe

This website is served over an encrypted connection and does not store anything you type into it. We use your information only for the purposes set out on this page.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your information, or to restrict how we use it;
  • object to our using it on the basis of our legitimate interests;
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent (such as the events list);
  • ask for information you gave us in a portable format, for yourself or another organisation.

To use any of these rights, email albachiarafelixstowe@gmail.com or write to us at the restaurant. It’s free, and we will reply within one month.

If you’re unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use personal information — for example, if we ever add analytics — we will update this page first, and ask for your consent wherever the law requires it.
